    Catalogue of Islamic Seals and Talismans

    Cornelian; bezel (but the front face is slightly rounded and the back face is a little hollow), bevelled towards the front; oval. Four lines separated by straight lines formed by the elongation of the return of the loops of the final yā’s. Cursive script; engraved.

    (1) Oh my God! Bless the Prophet (Muḥammad), the Commissioner (`Alī), اللهم صل على النبي والوصي
    (2) the Virgin (Fāṭima), al-Ḥasan and al-Ḥusayn, the Worshipper (`Alī), Pious [sic], [sic] والحسن والحسين والسجاد تقي[sic] والبطول
    (3) the Great One (Muḥammad), al Ja`far, the Silent (Mūsā), the Pleasing (`Alī), والباقر والجعفر والكاظم والرضا
    (4) [the Pious (Muḥammad)], the Chaste (`Alī), the Soldier (Ḥasan) and the Mahdī (Muḥammad) والتقي] والنقي والعسكرى والمهدى]

    One line follows the shape of the gem.
