    Nearly square, with notched angles; pierced with 24 square or oblong holes forming part of a six by six chequer; large oblong seppadai; ryōhitsu plugged with chrysanthemum-punched copper.

    Signed (in swordsmiths' style): Nobuiye and, in cursive characters, Kanyemon saku [Japanese text] (possibly "made by K. to a N. design").
