    The Barlow Collection

The piece is of cylindrical form, the cover with slightly domed top and bevelled edge, the base also very slightly convex, with a rounded edge. The top is decorated with a sketchy foliate motif, painted under the glaze, probably in copper-green (or iron-brown) but now flaked off and remaining in the biscuit surrounded by green patches. The pale yellowish-green glaze covers the whole piece except for the rims and base, where the pale buff ware is visible.
