    The Barlow Collection

The small jar has a wide rounded shoulder, tapering to a splayed solid foot with chamfered edge. The low waisted neck has a flared rim, and two double-stranded loop handles are attached on the shoulder. The upper part of the sides is textured with a diaper pattern of rouletted diagonal strokes, and the piece is glazed in an olive-brown except for the lowest part of the sides and the flat base. The glaze adheres unevenly leaving a spotty surface, and is partly degraded through burial. The biscuit has a yellowish-buff colour.
