The Barlow Collection
The small jar has a rounded body with a low, broad, slightly splayed foot and a pointed base. Two loop handles are attached on either side of the straight neck. The rough, light grey body is thickly covered with white slip and with an opaque, nearly colourless glaze, which has an overall dark-stained crackle. Glaze and slip leave the lowest part of the sides, foot and base free, the slip reaching down somewhat further than the glaze. An iron-brown spot is placed onto each handle. The glaze is worn at the rim, where the slip is now exposed.
