The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries

Eight narrow bands contain a continuous line of S-shapes, linked to make up a design of vines and trumpet-shaped leaves. Four of the bands are embroidered blue, the other four are brown.

The bands are 1 cm wide. Six of them are arranged in two groups of three each, parallel to one another and set at right angles between the remaining two bands. The fabric has a rolled hem on all four sides; it was used as a square cover or kerchief.
