The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries

Three narrow bands contain cartouches and rosettes. Each cartouche holds a small medallion flanked by two flowers, embroidered in yellow against a background of either brown or turquoise. The small rosettes are six-petalled and embroidered with satin stitch in turquoise outlines. Split or stem stitch are used for both outlines and as filling stitch. Between the cartouches are medallions filled with pulled work worked with three-sided stitch.

The bands are parallel to the selvedge. They are 1 cm wide.
