Three sketches of crops

    The compositions of these small sketches are similar to some of the small woodcuts and, like those, their subjects are agricultural. The two at the left show stones for separating rice and corn, familiar in European agriculture; the sketch on the right shows an essentially Chinese loess trench planted with rice.
