The A. H. Church Collection of Japanese Sword-Guards (Tsuba)
On each face an almost identical design (reversed) in faint sunk relief of two vine-leaves (Vitis labrusca) with a few grapes (one in negative silhouette) and tendrils (partly done by sawcuts); the kozuka-hole perhaps represents another grape; the kōgai-hole is lobed like the leaves.
Somewhat damaged by rust, but an attractive guard.
