    The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries

    Leather strips are cut out into a trefoil scroll and are sewn onto a gilded ground.

    Most of the appliqué leather strips have disappeared, although the design can still be seen through the remaining stitching. Where the appliqué remains it is attached with flax thread.
