The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries

A sixteen-petalled rosette is outlined in dark blue, with a central circle containing a diamond. At the end of each petal is a trefoil finial. The petals were originally filled with yellow embroidery, which has largely deteriorated.

The slanted counted filling stitches are worked in diagonal rows. Brown lines dividing the blue and yellow areas are very deteriorated, but were probably worked in split stitch.
