Chinese Paintings in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford

Jin Yuan, whose dates are unrecorded, was a late Qing dynasty painter from Shaoxing (then Shanyin) in Zhejiang province. He became prefect of Haiyang county in Guangdong province, and was admired for his bird paintings. His works are mentioned by the poet Chihongxuan. A hanging scroll by Jin Yuan is published in Chan 1977, pl.51.
