The A. H. Church Collection of Japanese Sword-Guards (Tsuba)
Mokkō; edge slightly hammered up; irregular, but highly polished surface; in low relief round the edge of the front (and continued on to the back) is an inscription in bold cursive characters; sharply cut udenuki holes, one square.
Signed Kashū Kinjō no jū ("resident of Kanazawa in Kaga province") Suzuki [Japanese characters] Yoshinori [Japanese characters], with kakihan [Japanese text] (compare to no. 91) [EAX.10091].
Hawkshaw Collection, no.2961. H.L.Joly in the Hawkshaw Catalogue, backed by the opinions of several Japanese experts, regards the inscription as illegible.
