    The A. H. Church Collection of Japanese Sword-Guards (Tsuba)

    Towards the base is a large circular hole (representing the moon) partly cut into by the sd. and also crossed by modelled leaves of susuki grass with a few dewdrops; these are continued on the solid part of the guard on each face in katakiri engraving together with other leaves and inflorescenes of the plant; ground of ishime (various sizes of round-headed punch). Signed: Yasuchika (largely defaced by the hammering round the tang-hole).
