    Hiroshige’s Views of Mount Fuji

    The celebrated husband-and-wife rocks are bound together with great ropes, renewed each January, while a torii sits on the highest point. In the Edo period, the water was famously clean, and pilgrims would bathe here before visiting the Ise shrines.
