    The A. H. Church Collection of Japanese Sword-Guards (Tsuba)

    Pierced in negative silhouette with a large matsukawa-bishi (badge of overlapping lozenges) supplying the kōgai-hole, a large "snow-heap" surrounding the oblong kozuka-hole, and, above, a rounded piercing with double cusp.

    Signed (in swordsmiths' style): Kishū no jū (resident of Kishū province) Sadakane ([Japanese text]).
