Chinese Prints 1950-2006 in the Ashmolean Museum

In my self-edited 'encyclopaedia', I try to establish a norm departing from the orthodox. To do this, I take advantage of the form of antique books, to make the encyclopaedia appear authentic.

Hong Hao finished his studies at the Middle School of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1985. In the same year he entered CAFA’s Printmaking Department, gaining a BA degree in 1989. Since then Hong has gradually become a highly independent artist. He has worked in a variety of media and techniques including screen printing, photography and computer-generated images. His cynical sense of humour permeates all his work, showing his intention to confuse and challenge orthodox perceptions with a hint of delicate irony.
