The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries

A continuous design of linked flowers, buds and leaves on stems, arranged in diagonal bands.

The embroidery is very fine, with each running stitch moving over and under a single thread. The cloth was probably part of a sash or scarf. The design covers the complete width. There is a finely sewn hem along one side, and a selvedge along the other.
