    The Barlow Collection

This small figure was acquired together with the pottery figures of ladies, Barlow Collection, [LI1301.413.1, LI1301.413.2, LI1301.413.3, and LI1301.413.4], one of which was supposed to hold it. While these figures are modern reproductions, however, the present goose is a genuine piece of the period.

Naturalistically modelled, the small bird is shown standing, its head raised, with wings modelled in relief and feathers incised. The red pottery shows traces of a white dressing and some black pigment.
