The Barlow Collection
This piece was bought together with the jar, [LI1301.277], and was supposed to fit onto the rim of the jar. The two pieces are, however, different in material and date.
The piece is shaped as a deep dish with an everted bracket-lobed rim with a raised lip around the inside. The outside has a stepped angled profile and the narrow foot has a raised rib and a low footring. From the centre of the dish rises an octafoil stem with a flower-shaped top with ten ribbed petals, pierced all the way through to a long slit at the bottom. The off-white body is covered with a light bluish-green glaze. The base is unglazed and covered with a brown dressing, the footring shows the biscuit.
