The Barlow Collection
The bowl has a fine conical profile, with slightly convex sides and flared rim, and a short tapering foot. The flat centre inside is incised with three curved petals with parallel veins, evoking a closed peony bud, and the sides show a band of peony leaves, enclosed by a horizontal line to leave a broad band at the rim plain. The outside is plain except for some accidental horizontal lines from turning. The translucent dark greyish-green glaze leaves the underside of the foot free, where six patches are visible from spurs.
