Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford

A wide band filled with tendrils, with parts of the beaded frames of medallions visible, and including half of an ornate flower-head. The pattern is white on a red ground. Adjacent to it is a narrow band with crossed tendrils and small rosettes, white on a brown ground. The fragment is identical to Cat. no. 611 [EA1990.618].

The textile has been folded into a rectangle, one long side of which is now torn. There are remains of yellow stitching along one edge. Like the two previous textiles, this fragment almost certainly was part of the same textile as Cat. no. 611 [EA1990.618]. The reverse is less saturated with dye than the surface.
