Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford

A continuous design field with stylized leaves or trees; the pattern is an elaborate development of the stylized plants seen in Cat. no. 1113 [EA1990.1120]. They are blue with red and white leaves, against a blue background filled with white tendrils.

The remains of a seam follow a curve of the fabric, and a very small additional cotton fragment is attached at this point. There is further stitching on various parts of the fabric, some of it apparently random. The reverse shows more dye saturation than the surface. There is no evidence of block printing.
