    The Barlow Collection

The combination of small boys and pomegranates in this design designates the wish for many children, pomegranates being a symbol of fecundity on account of their many seeds.

The dish is very heavily potted, with a thick footring. The inside is moulded in relief with a central medallion with three fish among waves, surrounded by a band with two boys among lotus between pomegranate motifs, and a dotted border. The moulding is not very crisp. The blue-tinged glaze leaves the rim and part of the footring and base free, the biscuit has an orange tinge around the edge of the glaze.
