Various Hizen work (including Hirado Island)

While the Namban style took its rise in the province of Hizen, the latter was also the home of several schools and individual artists producing work closely related to Namban, but having more of the true Japanese flavour about it.

The use of coarse enamel, generally on a ground of sentoku, shows Chinese influence. Other enamels probably originating in Hizen will be found at the beginning of Group LXVII.

The work of Jakushi is dealt with in the next group.
