Explore the innovative landscape work of one of China’s most renowned contemporary artists.
This drawing is the earliest work in the exhibition, produced when Xu Bing was 14 or 15 years old. It depicts a stove in the Xu family home. Adjacent to it is a piece of European, probably French, marble-topped furniture. The drawing is in a Western academic style, reflecting the art teaching Xu Bing had received at school.
